A-177-2 External Foot Controller II

The A-177-2 Foot Controller module is a connection module for a foot controller and a double foot switch.

This is not simply a large-to-small multiple, but the module actively generates control voltages or gate signals that are controlled by electrically passive foot switches / foot controllers.

A large-to-small multiple, on the other hand, would be module A-181.

Outputs:

EN-CTRL-A177-2-OUT

Possible uses

The foot controller can be used for any VCA (volume pedal), filter (“wah-wah” pedal), etc.

The two gate signals of the footswitch can, for example, trigger envelope curves, switch between the different “mixtures” with the A-113 Subharmonic Oscillator or switch between Lowpass, LP+VCA and VCA with the A-101-2 Lowpass Gate.

Compatible pedals

Using a normally open footswitch on the A-177-2.

The module is designed for the Doepfer FP5 foot controller or the VFP2 double foot switch.

The FP5 has a 1/4″ stereo jack plug with the pot left stop at ground, the pot right stop at the tip (here the module applies a constant voltage) and the pot wiper at the middle contact ( here the module picks up the voltage weakened by the potentiometer). The control path of the potentiometer is halved, so that with +16 V at the tip, a maximum of +8 V is available at the middle contact.

The VFP2 also has a 1/4″ stereo jack plug with ground to ground, switch 1 on the center contact and switch 2 on the tip. The pedal is normally closed, i.e. the circuit is closed when the pedal is released and is opened each time the pedal is pressed. If necessary, normally open pedals can be used indirectly via the inverter of an A-165 trigger modifier, which must be switched after the A-177-2.
